Sometimes a toilet blockage is exactly what it looks like - too much paper, a quick fix, done. But sometimes you pull the toilet and find something that has absolutely no business being in a drain line. That's what happened here.
What we pulled out was a small electronic device - wrapped in paper towels and lodged deep enough to bring the whole thing to a halt. This wasn't a slow buildup. Something got flushed that shouldn't have, and the toilet was doing its best to tell everyone about it. Slow flushes, backing up, gurgling - those are all signs that something is wrong beyond the surface.
This is exactly why we don't just plunge and hope for the best. When a toilet keeps acting up and basic fixes aren't solving it, the answer is almost always further down the line. We work through it until we actually find the problem - not just mask it.
Drain cleaning and toilet issues go hand in hand more often than people realize. A lot of calls we get start with 'my toilet is slow' and end with us pulling something unexpected out of the drain. Foreign objects, buildup, root intrusion - there's a long list of things that can cause a toilet to behave badly.
If your bathroom is giving you trouble and it keeps coming back, that's your plumbing telling you something. The longer it sits, the more damage it can do to the rest of your drain system.
