Most people only think about what a bathroom looks like when it's finished - the tile, the fixtures, the clean lines. But what happens inside the walls and under the floor? That's where a remodel either holds up for decades or starts causing problems within a few years.

This is the rough-in phase of a full bathroom remodel we're working on in Santaquin, Utah. Demo is done, and now we're setting the foundation for everything that comes after. The shower drain is set and positioned correctly in the subfloor, and the shower valve is mounted and roughed in through the framing. We're also using a Schluter waterproofing system on the shower walls - that's the orange board you can see installed in the framing. It's a critical layer that keeps moisture out of the structure long-term.

Here's why this stage matters so much. If the drain isn't sloped right, water pools. If the valve is in the wrong spot, your finished tile has to work around it. If waterproofing is skipped or done wrong, you're looking at mold and rot behind walls that you won't even notice until it's a much bigger problem. Getting the rough-in right means everything built on top of it - the tile, the glass, the fixtures - goes in cleanly and works the way it should.

We handle bathroom renovation from the very first demo swing all the way through to the finished product. That means one crew who understands the full scope, not a patchwork of subcontractors passing the job around. When you're planning a bathroom update, the plumbing side isn't something to cut corners on - and this is exactly the kind of work we take seriously before a single tile goes down.
