Three separate handles - hot, cold, and diverter - sounds like it should work fine, right? In reality, older 3-handle setups are notorious for dripping, leaky stems, and mismatched water temps. They're also just a pain to use every single day. This one had run its course.
We pulled out the old 3-handle valve and swapped it for a new Moen single-handle unit. The difference is immediate. One clean handle controls everything - temperature and flow - and the whole wall looks more put-together because of it. Less hardware, less clutter, better function.
This kind of fixture installation is one of those jobs that falls right in the middle of what we do. It's not a full bathroom renovation, but it's not a simple washer swap either. You've got to open up the valve body, make sure the new cartridge seats properly, and get the trim plate flush against the tile without cracking anything. Details matter.
What we ended up with is a sharp matte black Moen trim kit sitting clean against white subway tile - a single-lever handle, matching tub spout, and a new showerhead to tie it all together. The whole setup functions the way it should and looks like it belongs there. Sometimes a targeted fixture upgrade is all a bathroom needs.
Old valves get overlooked because they technically still work - until they don't. Worn stems, slow drips, or a handle that won't quite shut off all the way are signs it's time for an upgrade. We handle tub and shower valve replacements, full fixture installs, and bathroom renovations of all sizes. Small job or big, we treat every one the same way.
